Wolf-Rayet stars are extremely hot, massive stars (typically >20 solar masses) that have shed most of their hydrogen envelope, exposing their helium- or carbon-rich interiors. Their powerful stellar winds produce distinctive broad emission lines and drive rapid mass loss.
