Water worlds are exoplanets whose surfaces are largely or entirely covered by deep liquid water oceans, with no exposed rock or continents. Predicted from interior models of planets with water mass fractions above ~1%, they may limit the nutrient cycling required for complex life but remain promising candidates for microbial habitability.
