Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) correlates radio signals recorded simultaneously at widely separated antennas, sometimes on different continents, to achieve the highest angular resolution available — down to microarcseconds. The Event Horizon Telescope used global VLBI to image the shadows of black holes.
