Radial velocity surveys use high-resolution spectrographs to systematically monitor many stars for the Doppler wobble caused by orbiting planets. Instruments like HARPS (ESO) and ESPRESSO routinely achieve 1 m/s precision, sensitive to Neptune-mass and smaller planets around nearby stars.
