A mini-Neptune is an exoplanet intermediate in size between super-Earths and Neptune, typically 2-4 Earth radii, with a thick hydrogen/helium atmosphere over a rocky or icy core. They are the most common planet type found by the Kepler mission and appear rare in our own solar system.
