Lagrange points are five positions in a two-body gravitational system where a third small body can maintain a stable position relative to the other two. L1, L2, and L3 are unstable saddle points; L4 and L5 are stable and host Trojan asteroids. JWST orbits the Sun-Earth L2 point.
