The Giant Magellan Telescope (GMT) is a next-generation optical/near-infrared telescope being built at Las Campanas Observatory in Chile with an effective aperture of 24.5 meters using seven 8.4-meter mirrors. It targets exoplanet atmospheres, black hole masses, and the first stars and galaxies.
