Galaxy clusters are the largest gravitationally bound structures in the universe, containing hundreds to thousands of galaxies, hot intracluster gas (ICM), and vast reservoirs of dark matter. The ICM emits strongly in X-rays; clusters are used as probes of cosmological parameters.
