Nunki

At apparent magnitude 2.05, Nunki is among the brighter stars of Sagittarius, where it carries the Sigma designation and the Flamsteed number 34. It is a blue-white B-type star, its negative colour index of −0.134 reflecting the hot, blue-tinged surface of that class. Situated roughly 228 light-years away, Nunki has an absolute magnitude of −2.17, indicating an intrinsic luminosity considerably greater than its apparent brightness alone conveys. The star lies within the star-rich region of the Archer that spans the direction of the Milky Way's centre, though Nunki itself is a foreground object far nearer than that distant galactic core, its blue light standing out against the crowded background.
