Gravitational Wave

Gravitational waves are ripples in the curvature of spacetime propagating at the speed of light, generated by accelerating masses. First detected directly by LIGO in 2015 from a binary black hole merger, they open a new observational window on the universe complementary to electromagnetic astronomy.
