Asymptotic Giant Branch

Asymptotic Giant Branch (AGB) stars are late-stage low- to intermediate-mass stars that burn helium in a shell around a carbon-oxygen core. They are extremely large and luminous, pulsate as Mira variables, and shed their envelopes to form planetary nebulae, leaving a white dwarf remnant.
