Cih

A hot blue-white B-type star, Cih occupies the Gamma position in Cassiopeia and lies near the centre of that constellation's distinctive W-shaped figure. Its colour index of −0.046 is consistent with the high temperatures of the B class. Cih is distant — roughly 549 light-years — yet still reaches apparent magnitude 2.15, a consequence of its large absolute magnitude of −3.98, which ranks it among the most intrinsically luminous stars in this group. As the middle star of the W of Cassiopeia, it holds a central, easily located place in the northern circumpolar sky, its blue-white light contrasting with the warmer tones of the constellation's cooler stars.
