Protoplanetary Disk

A protoplanetary disk is the rotating disk of gas and dust surrounding a young star from which planets form. Dust grains collide and grow into pebbles, then planetesimals, and finally planets; the disk disperses within a few million years due to photoevaporation and planet formation.
