Transit Photometry

Transit photometry is the technique of precisely measuring the fractional dimming of a star as a planet crosses its disk. The depth of the transit gives the planet-to-star radius ratio; the duration constrains the impact parameter and orbital speed; and the period indicates the orbital distance.
