Interferometer

An astronomical interferometer combines signals from two or more separated telescopes to synthesize the angular resolution of a much larger aperture. Radio interferometry (VLBI) achieves sub-milliarcsecond resolution; optical interferometry resolves stellar disks and separates close binary stars.
