Toliman is a K-type (Orange) star located in the constellation Centaurus. It carries the designation Alp2Cen.
At a distance of approximately 4.32 light-years, Toliman is one of the Sun's closest stellar neighbors. Light that we observe from Toliman today left the star roughly 4 years ago, making it a near neighbor in galactic terms.
Toliman is classified as a spectral class K star (K-type (Orange)) on the Harvard spectral classification system.
Toliman has an apparent magnitude of +1.35, making it a bright and prominent star that is readily visible to the naked eye. It is one of the more conspicuous stars in its region of the sky. Observers will note its yellow hue, which corresponds to a B-V color index of +0.900.
