Quasar

Quasars (quasi-stellar objects) are the most luminous class of AGN, outshining their entire host galaxies by factors of hundreds. Powered by supermassive black holes accreting matter at extreme rates, they are seen mostly at high redshift and are among the most distant objects detectable.
