Milky Way Structure

The Milky Way is a barred spiral galaxy roughly 100,000 light-years in diameter, containing 200-400 billion stars. It has a central bar, four main spiral arms (including the Orion Arm where the Sun resides), a thin disk, a thick disk, and a spherical halo.
