Stellar Nucleosynthesis

Stellar nucleosynthesis is the creation of chemical elements heavier than hydrogen inside stars through successive fusion reactions. Carbon, oxygen, neon, silicon, and iron are progressively built up in the stellar interior, enriching the interstellar medium when the star dies.
