Proper Motion

Proper motion is the apparent angular movement of a star across the sky relative to background objects, measured in arcseconds per year. Barnard's Star holds the record, moving about 10 arcseconds per year. Combined with radial velocity and parallax, proper motion yields a star's full 3D space velocity.
