Extremely Large Telescope

The Extremely Large Telescope (ELT), under construction in Chile by ESO, will have a segmented primary mirror 39 meters in diameter. It will be the world's largest optical/infrared telescope, capable of directly imaging exoplanets and resolving stellar populations in nearby galaxies.
